The duties for this position include but are not limited to the following:
Executes nutrition policy and program requirements IAW instruction and guidance established by AF/SG.
Employs evidenced-based nutrition methods and behavior change theories in conjunction with the HP staff to develop, coordinate, implement, market and evaluate comprehensive primary, secondary and tertiary nutrition programs and services, as well as other related health and wellness programs, aimed at nutrition improvement, total force readiness and disease prevention/intervention for the beneficiary population.
Serves as the nutrition expert, consultant, and advocate to support a comprehensive Air Force Fitness Program for the installation.
Provides expertise to implement and evaluate nutrition programs for all populations.
Provides expertise to develop, deliver and evaluate nutrition-related training programs for professional staff and colleagues on HP-related topics.
Communicates and coordinates nutrition programs among local leadership and target customers/beneficiaries.
Participates in teleconferences, updates, working groups, review panels, symposiums,
etc. related to nutrition education/MNT programming, management or operations.
Uses basic computer applications for word processing, record keeping, presentations, and nutrition assessment (e.g. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, and Outlook.)
Completion of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in a didactic program for dietetics approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education of the American Dietetic Association (ADA). A Master's degree in nutrition education, sports nutrition, public health, health promotion or community nutrition is preferred.
Current registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association (ADA).
Must be successfully granted and maintain provider privileges by the Credentials Office.
Board eligible Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics by the ADA.
Possesses three (3) years of experience in wellness, sports nutrition or nutrition education.
